App for RX10 m4

So I've looked at the ratings of 2 of the apps Sony recommend to link upward with your camera to transfer photos.

Both have a terrible rating. What apps do people use?

Yes, those apps have problems.  But if you lot want live photographic camera control, you're kind of stuck with something like that.  And Sony wants you lot to get involved with their cloud service, which I'm not interested in

Simply there's nothing special required to transfer images or movies to a computer. I use a bill of fare reader and copy them, or depending on your platform, your computer's default image importer.  You tin can likewise leave the carte in the camera and connect the camera to the computer with a USB cablevision, putting the camera in the mode that permits access (sorry I don't call up the specific term).  You can too use Elements, Photos (Mac), and I call back Lightroom, but I'm not a Lightroom user, so not positive on that.

To transfer where and how? To a phone or reckoner? Wired or wireless? Apple tree production or non-Apple product?

Re: App for RX10 m4

The post-obit applies if you are Mac based.  No thought whether it'southward any better if you are Windows.

The two Sony apps are chosen PlayMemories Mobile and Imaging Edge. In effect PMM has been discontinued by Sony although it's still burnt in to some new cameras (my new RX10M3 purchased concluding calendar week has it). But it doesn't work properly with the latest Mac operating systems to a higher place 10.15 - that's Catalina I think. Imaging Edge is supposed to take replaced it and I can utilise Imaging Edge to control my RX10M3 only it'due south very very clunky.

When it comes to transferring images wirelessly - either out in the field where camera and smartphone or camera and laptop need to ready a link between themselves (as opposed to both connecting to a household's wifi), it is dreadful. And I'm using lockdown to see if I can crack it. Sometimes I tin brand information technology piece of work sometimes I neglect miserably.

If y'all plug in a USB cable betwixt the camera and your Mac, you can get into the menu on the camera and press ship to computer. It comes up with a screen that says USB mass storage. If you then burn down upwards Photos on your mac and and then 'import', find the 'source' within 'Locations' and click on it, Photos volition show you what images haven't yet been imported. I should say that the 'source', ie your camera or your SD card, is usually named 'unamed' or something similar. I guess there's a mode of renaming our SD cards and then that they are more than user friendly.

PlayMemories Mobile is not congenital into your camera or any camera. It'southward an app that gets installed on a phone or tablet.

What yous see on your camera is the power to add optional PlayMemories Camera Apps to it. Those are described hither.

I don't accept a figurer nor laptop. It's purely transfering from camera to phone.

PlayMemories Mobile is not built into your photographic camera or any photographic camera. It's an app that gets installed on a phone or tablet.

What you run across on your photographic camera is the ability to add optional PlayMemories Photographic camera Apps to it. Those are described here.

Not on the RX10M4, you don't. That feature was dropped from new Sony cameras a few years agone. Y'all just become the connection apps that are built into the camera.

I think y'all only demand to load the Imaging Border app on the phone, and nada on the camera. You volition exist able to transfer JPEGs from the photographic camera to the phone (not raw images) and use the phone equally a rudimentary remote control for the camera.

The first time y'all connect, you pair the phone with the camera using a bar lawmaking displayed on the camera screen, and and then the camera starts up a wifi node, which you connect to from the phone.  One time you start up Imaging Border on the phone, they will exist linked. Y'all don't need to pair it again, but may need to manually select the photographic camera'south wifi node from the phone on subsequent occasions. In that location's no need to connect the photographic camera to your domicile or office wifi.

Re: App for RX10 m4

Non sure why nobody's plugging Camrote. I utilise this app for my RX10M3. I don't do camera control much just information technology transfers RAW files which Imaging Border does not. Important for my Lightroom Mobile workflow.

Because it won't run on the OP's RX10M4.

And if the OP doesn't take a computer, transferring raw images probably isn't of involvement.

The comment was not about the RX10M4. The person to whom I replied says he has an RX10M3, which has the ability to add apps. That's surely what he sees and thinks is PlayMemories Mobile. It would look something similar this:

That feature was dropped from new Sony cameras a few years agone. You lot just get the connexion apps that are built into the camera.

It'southward an app that resides on a mobile device, and so I'm non sure why information technology wouldn't.

This is a pretty long list of compatible cameras, and it includes many that don't support user-installed apps, then that can't be a restriction. The absenteeism of the RX10M4 from that list might only be an oversight. Anyone interested should contact the company for description.

And if the OP doesn't take a computer, transferring raw images probably isn't of involvement.

Some people are now doing RAW conversion and editing on mobile devices. The other odd affair though, is that the company claims RAW transfer is not supported on the RX10M3. Info about this product definitely need clarification.
